Implementation of PPWR by Verpact
To align with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Verpact is introducing a detailed packaging reporting system for all producers.
From Material to Packaging Component
Starting in 2025, producers in the Netherlands will be required to report detailed packaging information. While reporting for paper, glass, metal, and other materials remains unchanged, plastic reporting will now be divided into 13 subcategories. Factors such as whether the packaging is flexible or rigid, its color (brown, white, pink), and the presence of recycled content will all be relevant for the new reporting requirements.
Verpact
As of January 1, 2024, Verpact serves as the Dutch packaging PRO. Several Dutch environmental organizations have joined forces with the goal of creating a circular economy for packaging in the Netherlands. The organizations involved in this merger include Afvalfonds Verpakkingen, Nedvang, Nederland Schoon, het Kennisinstituut Duurzaam Verpakken, and Statiegeld Nederland.
