Denmark Packaging EPR Implementation Postponed

What's new?

The obligations for companies that put (products with) packaging on the Danish market have been delayed for 9 months. Companies were to register and declare their put on the market on the 1st of January 2025, then July 2025, but are now to declare starting 1st of October 2025.

The Danish industry believes that Denmark needs to have even more time to start preparing on and pushes for delaying the starting date until the 1st of January, 2026.

European background

Please take note that the European-wide deadline for implementing the Packaging Directive is 31 December 2024.
Denmark does take the risk of receiving a fine due to missing the implementation deadline of this Directive.

Obligations for producers

As stated above, producers should register with a PRO to collectively comply for the obligations set in the EPA and declare all of the put on the market with said PRO.
