Romania next to follow mandatory B2B electronic invoicing

Romania has received approval from the European Commission to mandate B2B domestic electronic invoicing.

Instead of a model for certain high risk products and phased implementation this now seems to be dropped and applicable to all businesses. The Romanian model requires pre-clearance but this will be dropped from 01.01.2026 due to the VIDA requirements (from 2028). The plan is to start the mandatory e-invoicing most likely as from 01.01.2024. We will keep you informed about the Romanian developments.
