Export to Gabon: Start of Product Conformity Assessment program

We would like to inform you about the update we received from SGS (the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company).

We hereby inform you on the anticipated announcement by the Agence Gabonaise de Normalisation (AGANOR) of the start of the Product Conformity Assessment program. This announcement is expected before the end of the week. The objective of this program is to protect the consumers against substandard products that can endanger public health, safety and the environment. Under this program, an independent third party shall certify that goods intended for importation into Gabon are in conformity with applicable national, regional or international standards. SGS is one of the parties accredited by the AGANOR to provide this service.

Certificate of Conformity

All goods arriving on or after 20 May 2016 are subject to this new program. Goods can only be imported in Gabon against a Certificate of Conformity, issued by a AGANOR accredited independent party. AGANOR will levy a penalty in case goods arrive without a Certificate of Conformity. A Certificate of Conformity is granted to a product that meets a minimum set of regulatory, technical and safety requirements.

Datasheet

Please find here a Datasheet on this program. This Datasheet is subject to change. Please ensure that you are working with the latest version, to be available soonest on the website of SGS.
