Export to Cameroon: Start of Pre-shipment Evaluation of Conformity Program

We would like to inform you about the update we received from SGS (the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company).

We hereby inform you that ANOR, the “Agence des Normes et de la Qualité”, has launched the Cameroon Pre-shipment Evaluation of Conformity Program (PECAE). This Program is aimed at ensuring that the products imported into the Cameroonian market comply with approved national or international standards and technical regulations. The implementation date is 31th of August 2016, BL or AWB date.

At this stage the main product groups subject to this Program are the following:
• Food and dairy products
• Beverages, wine, spirits
• Cereals, edible oils, sugar
• Fuel, oils
• Cosmetics, soaps and detergents
• Paper
• Iron, steel, aluminium and articles thereof

More details on the products subject to the program can be found in the document “Guidelines for the Trade” under paragraph 2 “Listing of Regulated Products”.

SGS has been authorized by ANOR to assess products’ compliancy to approved standards. Exporters may thus approach SGS for assessment of their products. After the assessment process is completed with positive result, SGS will issue an “Attestation de Conformité (AC)”. In Cameroon this Attestation de Conformité will be converted by ANOR into a “Certificate of Conformity (CoC)”, to be delivered to the importer and required for customs clearance.

For the time being this program will run in parallel to the existing Cameroon Pre-shipment Inspection Program.
