Since October 1, 2021, Egypt (as the first country) has made the use of the ACI system mandatory for exports to Egypt. The system is intended to speed up customs procedures and improve border security.
According to the ACI system, it is the intention that the importer requests a unique (19-digit) ACID (Advanced Cargo Information Declaration) number for each shipment.
Not all exporters have completed verification process
However, Egyptian customs report that a number of foreign exporters exporting to Egypt still have not completed their verification process on the CargoX platform.
From now on, Customs will no longer issue ACID numbers in these cases. As a result, exporters cannot upload and send data and documents to their Egyptian importer via CargoX/NAFEZA. This can lead to serious delays and additional costs in the customs clearance process in Egypt.
