New SASO Regulation for IT and Communication Devices

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has introduced a new Technical Regulation for communication and information technology devices, effective from February 12. This regulation applies to the HS codes listed in an attached document.

Currently, it is not possible to select and link a certification body to conformity assessments within the SASO portal for these products. As a result, Product Certificates of Conformity (PCoC) cannot be issued until this functionality is restored.

Existing PCoC certificates for the affected HS codes will remain valid until their expiration date. If you have a product without a valid PCoC certificate that falls under the relevant HS codes, there are three alternative options:

  • Check if it is possible to choose a different HS code that does not fall under the new Technical Regulation.
  • Wait for an update from SASO regarding the resumption of the certification process.
  • Use an exemption (non-commercial process).

Once certification bodies can be linked to requests in the portal again, the conformity assessment process can resume.

For more information and updates on the implementation of this regulation, we will continue to monitor official SASO communication channels to keep you informed.
