New QR Code for Certificate of Origin from July 9, 2024

Starting from July 9, 2024, the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) has added a QR code to the Certificate of Origin. This new addition is designed to make the verification process faster and more efficient for anyone wishing to verify a Certificate of Origin.

How does it work?

The QR code on the Certificate of Origin directs you to the verification website of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). This means you can simply scan the QR code with your smartphone or another device to quickly access the verification page. Although the QR code directs you to the correct website, some fields such as the legalization number and date must still be entered manually.

Why this change?

This approach has been carefully chosen with security in mind. By preventing all document data from being directly accessible via the QR code, an extra layer of security is added. This minimizes the risk of misuse and enhances the security of your sensitive information.

What does this mean for you?

For businesses and trade partners, this change means a simplification of the verification process without compromising security. You can more quickly verify whether a Certificate of Origin is legitimate, saving time and improving efficiency. At the same time, your data remains protected from unauthorized access.
