Important Update from SASO on New Clearance Procedures for Goods Entering Saudi Arabia

Starting January 1, 2025, it will be mandatory for all shipments to carry both a Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) and a Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC), both issued through the Saber platform. This requirement is designed to uphold the quality and safety of imported products and ensure strict compliance with SASO standards.

Be aware that as of January 1, 2025, customs will no longer accept a Letter of Undertaking as a valid document for customs clearance. Additionally, securing SABER certificates after a shipment has arrived will be considered a customs violation.

We strongly advise that all shipments are dispatched only after obtaining the "Final Issued" Product Certificate of Conformity (PCoC) and the corresponding Shipment Certificate of Conformity (SCoC). Shipments arriving without these required certifications will incur fines and detention or demurrage charges, which will be the full responsibility of the importer.

This new procedure underscores SASO's commitment to maintaining the highest standards for goods entering Saudi Arabia and reinforces the importance of compliance for all importers.
