Tanzania reintroduces sanctions on imports without CoC

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) has announced it will once again enforce sanctions on regulated goods imported without a valid Certificate of Conformity (CoC).

Starting May 5, 2025, a 60-day grace period will apply. After that, a 15% penalty on the CIF value (Cost, Insurance & Freight) will be charged for any shipment that doesn’t meet the CoC requirement.

What does this mean for your business?

All regulated products entering Tanzania must comply with the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) programme. If not, shipments risk delays, penalties, or even refusal at the border.

Avoid unnecessary costs and delays

Make sure you know whether your products fall under the PVoC requirements and start the certification process well in advance.
