Spain delays Verifactu implementation to 2027

Both the Ministry of Finance and the president have confirmed to different news media that the entry into force of Verifactu will be delayed by one year.

New implementation dates

A Royal Decree-Law, expected to be approved today by the Council of Ministers, will formally change the rollout timeline:

  • For businesses and professionals subject to Corporate Income Tax:
    New date: 1 January 2027 (previously 1 January 2026)
  • For other companies and freelancers:
    New date: 1 July 2027 (previously 1 July 2026)

Once approved, the Royal Decree-Law will be published in the Spanish Official Gazette (BOE).
