Edwin Kampshoff, CIO of Pincvision, shares how his team combines technology and human behavior to keep (customer) data and processes safe.
Not just technology
“The great thing about Pincvision is that IT isn't just an internal service provider,” Edwin explains. “We actively contribute to the overall strategy. Security isn’t an afterthought, it’s a fundamental requirement. Our clients trust us with their data and processes, and we never want to betray that trust.”
His biggest concern? Ransomware. “A single attack could bring your entire infrastructure down. That’s my worst-case scenario. It wouldn’t just affect us, it could disrupt services to our customers. You want to avoid that at all costs.”
Concrete measures
To prevent such risks, Pincvision deliberately chose a cloud-only policy. No private data centers, but a secure infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. The network is segmented, real-time monitoring is in place, and any suspicious activity from high-risk regions is automatically blocked.
In addition, Pincvision provides employees with modern laptops and smartphones. No bring-your-own-device policy, but fully managed equipment that meets the latest security standards. “This way, our data - and that of our customers - is always protected within a secure environment,” Edwin emphasizes.
People make the difference
Still, technology is only half the story. “Our last line of defense is always our people,” says Edwin. That’s why every new employee receives immediate security training, everyone uses a password manager and multi-factor authentication, and phishing simulations are run on a regular basis.
What if someone clicks anyway? Then they receive guidance and coaching. “It may sound strict, but it works: incidents are down, and our people are much more alert. For clients, that means a lower risk of data breaches or disruptions.”
Balancing convenience and security
Security measures can sometimes reduce convenience. Still, finding the right balance remains essential, Edwin says. “We take strong precautions where it really matters, even if it takes a bit more effort. For other risks, we look for smart workarounds. In the end, it’s about making sure clients can rely on secure data and flexible service.”
Looking ahead: AI and identity
The future brings new areas of focus. AI plays a double role: attacks are getting smarter, but AI also helps with detection and monitoring. Identity and access management is becoming even more critical.
“We’re not trying to invent these innovations ourselves,” Edwin says. “Instead, we stay connected with expert partners who specialize in cutting-edge solutions. That’s how we keep up with the latest security standards.”
Security is about people
What’s Edwin’s most important takeaway? “Security isn’t just about tech. It’s just as much about awareness and employee behavior. Most incidents happen because of human error. That’s why we keep training, keep raising awareness, and make sure security is part of the entire organization. Ultimately, we do all this for one reason: to give our clients the confidence that their data and processes are in safe hands at Pincvision.”
In conclusion
At Pincvision, IT security isn’t an afterthought, it’s a core part of our strategy and innovation. With the right combination of technology, policies, and people, we make sure our clients can count on secure data, reliable processes, and full compliance.
“Technology can do a lot, but in the end, it’s our people who make the real difference. For us and for our customers,” Edwin Kampshoff, CIO, Pincvision.
