Ghana EasyPass Update: Process Remains Largely Unchanged Under GSA Management

Last week, we informed you about the upcoming changes to Ghana's EasyPass Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) Programme, which will transition to direct management by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) as of 1 July 2026.

We have now received additional information from the Ghana Standards Authority regarding the new process.

The good news is that the conformity assessment procedure itself will largely remain unchanged. Exporters will still be required to obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) before goods are shipped to Ghana, just as under the current EasyPass programme.

The main change is that all applications must be submitted through the new GSA EasyPass portal. The Ghana Standards Authority will be responsible for managing and monitoring the entire process, from application submission through to the issuance of the certificate.

At this stage, the process appears to follow the same principles and requirements as the existing programme. We are currently verifying whether existing registrations, certifications, and approvals can continue to be used under the new system and will share further updates once this has been confirmed.

If your company exports products to Ghana and relies on Certificates of Conformity, we recommend preparing for the transition and ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the upcoming changes.

We will continue to monitor developments and keep you informed as more information becomes available.

Ghana to discontinue EasyPass PVOC Programme from 1 July 2026

What will change?

From 1 July 2026:

  • The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) will assume direct control of the EasyPass Conformity Assessment Programme
  • All Certificates of Conformity (CoC) requests must be submitted directly to GSA
  • All existing third-party arrangements under EasyPass will be discontinued.

What should you do now?

If you currently ship goods to Ghana under the EasyPass PVOC Programme, it is important to take action.

Make sure you:

  • Complete all pending CoC requests under EasyPass before 1 July 2026
  • Engage directly with GSA for registration and future certification procedures
  • Align internally with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
