Why the delay? The introduction of the Digital Dossier
One key reason is the introduction of the Digital Dossier within the Dutch declaration systems DMS and DECO. This new feature will allow businesses to exchange trade documents and other supporting files digitally through DMS, instead of via email. This greatly improves Customs’ control processes and the traceability of documentation.
The timeline:
- May 2026 → Launch of the Digital Dossier (mandatory for all DMS declarants)
- July 2026 → Expected go-live of Centralised Clearance Imports (CCI)
What does this mean for your organization?
Starting February 1, 2026, Dutch Customs will begin processing CCI permit applications. The processing period is 120 days. To help businesses prepare, Customs has already published a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
➡️ Check out the latest Customs updates on Centralised Clearance
In other EU member states, such as Belgium and Sweden (as of October 15, 2025), Centralised Clearance is already available.
➡️ Read more about the EU-wide progress on Centralised Clearance
