The deadlines for VAT payments in Portugal will be extended by 5 days as of October 1, 2019. However the deadlines for submission of the returns will remain the same. This means that taxpayers with monthly VAT returns now have up to the 15th (instead of the 10th) of the 2nd month following the month to which the transactions relate, to pay the VAT due.

Taxpayers that submit quarterly returns now have up to the 20th (instead of the 15th) of the 2nd month following the quarter to which the transactions relate, to pay the VAT due.
