The Botswana program, formerly known as Standards (Import Inspection) Regulations, SIIR has now been renamed to 'Standards (Compulsory Standards) Regulations (SCSR)'.

The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has expanded and revised the list of regulated products under the Botswana SCSR which will be effective from April 1, 2024. The summary of the newly introduced products and the corresponding standards are listed below:

Household Electrical appliances: BOS IEC 60335-2-15, BOS IEC 60335-2-29, BOS IEC 60335-2-59, BOS IEC 60335-2-74, BOS IEC 60335-2-85, BOS IEC 60335-2-95 and BOS IEC 60335-2-103.
Lighting and Luminaries - BOS IEC 60598-2-4, BOS IEC 60598-2-5, BOS IEC 60968 and BOS IEC 62560.
Vehicle Spare Parts and accessories - BOS 60:2009, BOS 303-2:2008 and BOS 320:2009.
Mechanical and Building Construction Products - BOS 36:2016, BOS 44:2016, BOS 215:2012, BOS 397:2016, BOS 161-1:2018, BOS 161-2:2012, BOS 161-3:2018, BOS ISO 21925-1: 2018 and BOS 89:2010.
Firefighting Products - BOS 808: 2018 and BOS ISO 7203-1:2019.
Food Products - BOS 213:2014, BOS 273:2015, BOS 672:2015 and BOS 660:2014.
Animal Feed - BOS 190:2013, BOS 225:2014 and BOS 650:2014.
Plastic products - BOS 337:2012 and BOS 823:2019.
Cosmetics, Chemicals, and Hygiene Products - BOS 562:2013, BOS 111:2015, BOS 112: 2015, BOS 113:2016, BOS 374:2020, BOS 318:2018, BOS 358:2018, BOS 307:2015 and BOS 488:2023.

The above regulated products would require the mandatory Product Certificate (PC) or Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for customs clearance at Botswana ports and borders from April 1, 2024.
