Free invoicing software in Italy
Recently in Italy a new decree is issued regarding electronic invoicing. Basically it introduces a free invoicing system for electronic invoicing, an option to submit all electronic invoices to the tax authorities and incentives to exercise the option.
With effect from 1 July 2016, the Italian tax authorities will provide a service for the generation, transmission and storage of electronic invoices, free of charge.
Furthermore, for the period as from 1 January 2017 taxable persons can opt to submit electronically all invoices (input and output) to the tax authorities, including related corrections. The option applies for five years and is renewable. Please note that electronic submission is mandatory for taxable persons who sell goods through vending machines.
In order to promote the before mentioned option there are several incentives. Taxable persons who opt for this are exempt from a number of reporting obligations, like the submission of notices concerning transactions with blacklist countries and intrastat returns (under certain conditions). Furthermore VAT refunds will be carried out with priority.
The tax authorities will provide for further implementing measures for the free service and the option to submit all (electronic) invoices, and among others for a specific assistance programme for small businesses.
