Problems with certificates DigiNotar
To safely conduct business over the Internet between government parties and entrepreneurs security certificates are used. Minister Donner of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) has announced that the certificates of DigiNotar are no longer reliable. As a result of an electronical break-in into this organization, fraudulent certificates came into circulation. Because of this it is not 100% ruled out that users can be redirected to a malicious version of a website neither that users are allowed to do business with the government with stolen certificates.
The Chamber of Commerce requires companies to use DigiNotar’s digital certificates to digitally apply for export documents. For that reason our online application “Virtual Documents Window” uses these certificates to set up a secure connection with the Chamber of Commerce for the legalization of export documents.
What do DigiNotar’s problems mean to Pincvision?
The Chamber of Commerce is currently investigating the possibilities of an alternative process involving other providers of security certificates. Pincvision will not take immediate action, because they were asked to wait until the Chamber of Commerce will have presented information regarding the measures they will take.
The consequences of putting a stop to digital issuing export documents are greater than the security risk involved. Therefore, the Chamber of Commerce decided not to cease the digital issuing of export documents momentary.
Once the Chamber of Commerce will have come up with an alternative solution, we will publish this on our website. We recommend that you continue following our website for updates.
